  1. 1. Introduction

    This Privacy Policy describes how CODEIUM (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with the mobile application ParentPal (listed in the stores as “ParentPal: Budget & Meal Plan”, the “App”).

    Applicability: This policy applies to the App on the App Store and Google Play. The package name for iOS and Android is com.parentpal.

  3. 3. Information We Collect and Process

    Data that stays on your device. You don't create an account. Everything you enter — your name and your children's names, budget, expenses, tasks, chores, meals, and settings — is stored only on your device. Reminders are scheduled locally by your device.

    AI features (Premium). When you use an AI feature, the App sends only what that feature needs to our backend (hosted at parentpal.space), which forwards it to OpenAI to generate the result:

    • Recipes and meal plans: the dish you ask for (if any), meal type, number of servings, diet preferences, allergies, maximum cooking time, measurement units, and the titles of recent meals (to avoid repeats).
    • Budget insights: your currency, monthly budget and savings goal, this month's spending totals per category, and the amount, category, and date of the expense you just added (never its notes).
    • Approximate location — only if you turn on grocery pricing: your city, region, and country, plus your currency, to estimate local grocery prices. Your device converts its location to a city name using its built-in geocoding service (Apple or Google); exact coordinates are never sent to us. You can turn this off in the App's settings at any time.
    • Meal photos: the recipe title is used to find a matching photo through Pexels.

    Subscriptions and app analytics (RevenueCat). To provide and verify Premium subscriptions, the App uses RevenueCat, which processes a random anonymous app user ID, your purchase and subscription history from the App Store or Google Play, device type, operating system, country, and app version. We also record how far you got in the App's first-time setup (onboarding), so we can see where new users stop and improve it.

    Ad attribution (iOS). If you installed the App after tapping one of our Apple Search Ads, Apple's AdServices framework provides an attribution token, which is sent to RevenueCat so we can tell which ad campaign led to the install. We do not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websites.

    Crash reports. If you have enabled sharing in your device settings, Apple or Google may share anonymous crash reports with us.

    Website analytics. On parentpal.space we use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages and referring sites people visit. It uses no cookies and does not identify you or track you across other websites; data is aggregated, and a visitor hash used to count unique visits resets daily.

    We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or microphone/camera recordings, and we never receive your payment details — purchases are handled entirely by Apple or Google.

  4. 4. How We Use Information

    • Generate the recipes, meal costs, and budget insights you ask for.
    • Provide, verify, and restore Premium subscriptions.
    • Understand which ad campaigns bring new users and where new users drop off during setup, so we can improve the App.
    • Fix bugs, keep the App reliable, and protect it against abuse.

    We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising profiles.

  5. 5. Service Providers

    We share information only with service providers that process it on our behalf, under their own privacy and data processing terms:

    • OpenAI — generates recipes, meal costs, and budget insights (privacy policy).
    • RevenueCat — subscription management and the analytics described above (privacy policy).
    • Pexels — meal photos (privacy policy).
    • Vercel — hosts our website and the backend that handles AI requests, and provides cookieless website analytics (privacy policy).
    • Apple and Google — app distribution, payments, and (on iOS) ad attribution.

    We do not send your name, your children's names, transaction notes, or payment details to any of these providers.

  6. 6. Data Retention

    • Data on your device stays there until you delete it in the App, reset the App, or uninstall it.
    • AI requests are processed to return your result. OpenAI may keep API requests for up to 30 days to monitor for abuse, per its policies, and does not use them to train its models.
    • Subscription records are kept by RevenueCat, Apple, and Google for as long as needed to provide your subscription and meet legal and accounting obligations.

  7. 7. Security

    Requests from the App to our backend are encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and require a signed token. We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

  8. 8. Your Rights & Choices

    • Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU), you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of data we or our providers hold about you by emailing parentpal.main@outlook.com. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
    • You can delete the App's data at any time by resetting the App or uninstalling it.
    • You can turn off grocery pricing (approximate location) in the App's settings, or revoke location permission in your device settings.
    • You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings.

  9. 9. Children's Privacy

    The App is intended for parents and is not directed to children under 13. Children's names you enter (for example to assign chores) stay on your device. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children; if you believe a child has provided data, please contact us so we can delete it.

  10. 10. International Transfers

    Our service providers may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. We rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, where required by law.

  11. 11. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this policy to reflect changes to the App or applicable laws. We will post the updated version here and revise the “Last updated” date above. When required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent.
